REFERRAL PROCEDURES
School counselors often come across students who need more help than they are able to provide. In such cases, the school counselor would make a referral. These referrals can vary from suggesting outside mental health counseling to assisting the family in finding a tutor for the student. It is important for school counselors to have a resource of possible references readily available in order to get the information to the student and/or their parents when needed.
